Diatoms make up a major portion of Phytoplankton.
Some types of Diatoms are Pond Diatoms, Saddle Diatoms, Barrel Diatoms, Spider's-Web Diatoms and Sun-Ray Diatoms.

Algae are plant-like single celled microorganisms of various shapes and sizes.
Some Algae contain chloroplasts and some have flagella to move around with.
There are green algae and red algae and some green algae called Spirogyra form long filamentous chains with chloroplasts.
